SHOOTING: Clive Green was high gun and Class A winner in Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club’s 50-bird sporting competition held on the Club range at St Mary yesterday.

Green scored 44 ex-50.

Steve Gallichan topped Class B with 39 and James Lawrence won Class B with 27.

SHOOTING: Tony Satchwell won the Modern and Military Arms Club’s J Le Brocq Sniper Shield yesterday at Crabbé with a score of 259.

Gary Godel was runner-up on 215.

FOOTBALL: Jersey champions St Peter defeated Guernsey Northerners 3-2 away on Saturday to retain the Holsten Trophy.

Lucas Parker, Ryan Durand and Peter Vincenti scored the goals in the annual match after North scored first and last at Northfield.

GOLF: Dave Page return a net score of 54 off 18 handicap to win the Demi Golf Society’s August Monthly Medal at St Clement on Saturday.

Page won by three strokes from Miguel de Castro.

Roger de Sousa returned the leading gross score of 69.

SHOOTING: The first stage of the Jersey Rifle Association’s Kolapore Trophy was shot at Crabbé yesterday.

Daniel Richardson was top scorer with 105.17.

Barry Le Cheminant made a welcome return to place second on 104.17 including 50.10 scored at 300 yards.

DARTS: Tradesman’s Dart League players competed in their annual Divisional Knock-outs at the Ommaroo Hotel on Saturday.

Winning through to the finals on 9 September were, Kenny Horton and Eddie Le Bailly (Division I and captains’ KOs), Liam Catney and Stewart McGrogan (Division II) and Steve King and Nigel Dowden (Division III).

In the Division I tournament Mark Buckingham threw a maximum finish of 170.

TENNIS: Katie Gouyette had a memorable finals day in the BNP Jersey Junior Open at the Caesarean Club on Saturday winning both the under-16 and under-18 titles.

Teaming up with France’s Joann Arche they won the U18 mixed final too while Gouyette also partnered Kirsten McArthur to victory in the under-16 girls’ doubles final.

GOLF: Tim Dwaine and John Swan won St Clement Golf Club’s Merchant Vintner’s betterball doubles Stableford yesterday on a countback from Mel Berridge and Alex Thompson after both pairs recorded 46 points.

MOTOR SPORT: Jersey racing driver James Walker was forced to retire from the annual Masters of Formula 3 race at Zandvoort, near Amsterdam, yesterday after he hit kerb, damaging a suspension arm.

MOUNTAIN BIKES: Robin Ovenden was first over the finishing line yesterday in the the Caesareans Cycle Club’s third race of the summer held at St Ouen’s Mill.

Kieron Mills was second in the Elite section and Adam Wojtkiewicz third.

Other class winners were: James Olivier (sport); Michael Boarer (veterans); Rory Hidrio (schoolboys/girls); Mark Knowlton (super vets); Caroline Davies (women).

TOUCH: Jersey suffered mixed fortunes in the Ernst and Young Inter-Insular Touch Cup matches played in Guernsey on Saturday.

The men were beaten 5-4 in extra time at Foote’s Lane while the women and mixed teams won 7-0 and 4-2 respectively.

SWIMMING: The ASA National Swimming Championships finished in Sheffield yesterday.

AIB Tiger Ian Black rounded off the fortnight with a personal best swim in the 400IM.

Black finished in a time of 4:49.55, which took two seconds off his PB and earned him 12th place in the 17 years age group.

In all AIB Tigers took 15 PBs from 19 swims.

Meanwhile JSC’s Katie Speller was unable to progress to the final of the 200m IM on Friday.

IRONMAN: Fabian Baker retained the Jersey Surfboard Club’s Beach Ironman title at St Ouen on Saturday.

Katie Speller is the new ladies’ champion.

FOOTBALL: Trinity won Drainway Services football tournament on Saturday after they finished with a maximum nine points after their scheduled opponents, Magpies, scratched.

In the other match Jersey Wanderers defeated St Brelade 3-1.
