Deputy Roy Le Hérissier is to join Senator Ben Shenton to ask how parents have been left to meet the cost of the new university top-up fees in September.
The Senator is calling for the States to transfer £600,000 to Education to cover the bill.
Deputy Le Hérissier says that the attempt to require parents to pay £1,350 extra for university tuition in six months time ‘beggars belief’.
‘Why has this matter been left so late in the day?’ he asked.
‘Why have no arrangements been put in place, as we move to a situation where students will increasingly have to rely on loans? Why has no attention been paid to the different needs of parents?
