But first there is the little matter of getting past the unseeded Matt Hanson and Julie Pike in the first round.

‘They are both England U21 players so it’ll be quite a tough match, but we’ll have a go, there’s a chance we’ll beat them,’ Constable – a former England No 1 – said.

Awkward ‘They are an awkward pair to play against, physically, Matt is about 6 ft 5 in tall and very hard to serve against – maybe they’ll be a bit nervous! We’ve played them before, but both were with different partners – and lost to them, though in three sets each time.

But I don’t know how well they’ll play together.’ Constable admits he is very keen to get on court to play against the World No 1s as Robertson is an old adversary – and friend.

And he is also looking forward to the men’s singles, where he is seeded No 8 and meets the unseeded England U19 player Ben Beckman in the first round.

National champion Elizabeth Cann and Solenn Pasturel, both have a bye into round two, where Cann, seeded No 2, meets Francesca Edelmann and Pasturel plays against the winner of the match between Rachel Howard – Mariana Agathangelou’s doubles partner – and Kelly Mead.

Agathangelou is also playing mixed doubles with Edward Foster.

Also in the women’s doubles are Pasturel and Burns, their first match will be against Jenny Day and Liza Parker, both singles specialists.

Gavin Carter and Clive Dunford, who will play for Jersey in the Commonwealth Games, along with Constable, Cann, Pasturel and Burns, are second reserves for the main draw and will be called upon to play if those already in the draw drop out.
