Rogers, who has already qualified for the British team, also won bronze in the 40-44 age-group in 1 hr 47 min at Ashford, Kent.
Meanwhile Clements was sixth in his 35 to 39 group in a personal best time of 1 hr 49 min – over eight minutes inside the Commonwealth Games qualifying time.
He will join three other Island triathletes at the worlds in October – Rogers, Michael Lucas and Scott Pitcher.
Meanwhile Helen MacKenzie and Jenny O’Brien both achieved personal bests in femal category E.
Fog delayed the start by two hours but it eventually got underway with a shortened swim course.
Clements exited the water with a smaller lead than he would have expected over a full 1500m course.
Rogers faired little better.
The 26-mile bike course was long and demanding and the tighly-packed swim meant many cyclists were riding in packs in an effort to chase down the stronger athletes ahead, like Clements and Rogers.
‘I was disappointed to be caught by a bunch of six riders because it jeopardised a then silver medal position,’ said Rogers.
Clements worked hard to keep clear of one bunch of riders two of whom received penalties.
Some riders were disqualified for their tactics.
Rogers who posted the faster bike times in his last races in Shropshire and Bournemouth was disappointed to enter transition in fifth place, but ran hard to pull himself back into medal contention.
‘I really wanted silver, but am happy with an age-group bronze and 19th overall in the national championships,’ said Rogers, adding: ‘Although I am pleased that my bike and run are enough to hold off a chasing pack, it would have been nice to have a better test of my improved swimming, before the final Commonwealth selection race in London.’ Clements, disadvantaged by the shortened swim and chased down by the peleton, found the fatigue of his solo effort put paid to his medal chances, but was happy to place sixth and gain GB selection.
‘It would have been nice tohave won a medal,’ he said.
‘But my key focus now is to continue my Commonwealths preparation and the next milestone will be London on 8 August.
I’m still getting faster and stronger and London will be a good race for me.’ Club president Gary Jones praised the athletes and club coaches, Marcel Morin, Steve Hickson and Andy Kemp.
He said: ‘With Melbourne still nine months away and four Jersey althetes selected for the world championships the Jersey Triathlon Club is the strongest its ever been.’ The Jersey Triathlon Club is seeking sponsorship for the team.
