More than £30,000 has been pledged by companies to fund the event next Saturday in the People’s Park which is being organised by the Community Relations Trust in association with the Jersey Evening Post.

The entire Hyde Park concert will be shown on a huge TV screen shipped into the Island and the local screening will be ticketless and free of charge thanks to the donations.

In addition to the pledges of money, thousands of pounds worth of goods and services have also been donated to make the event a reality.

Organiser Freddie Cohen, a trustee of the Community Relations Trust, said: ‘We are delighted with the support we have received from the community, both in monetary terms and in a whole host of other ways.

People reacted to our request for help at very short notice and have demonstrated once again that Jersey is a unique place capable of making a difference.

This event couldn’t happen without the help of sponsorship and we are extremely grateful to everyone.

I’m sure the thousands of Islanders who are expected to flock to People’s Park for the screening will feel the same.’
