The volunteer cyclists will climb to 4,338 metres as they ride from Lake Titicaca to the lost Inca City of Machu Picchu in an attempt to raise money for the charity.
Organiser of the Bedell Cristin Cycle Peru 2005 event Richard Harwood said: ‘There is a great deal of fund-raising to be done before the team leaves for Peru in November, but with the fund-raising events planned we are confident of meeting our target of £165,000.
This is the amount needed to cover Jersey Hospice’s running costs for one month.’ So far 30 cyclists have signed up for the challenge, but there is still room for another 30.
Each cyclist has to pay £750 towards the cost of the trip to ensure that as much money as possible can be donated to Jersey Hospice.
The programme of fund-raising events begins with a special Samurai Supper evening of Japanese food at Jersey Pottery on Saturday 5 March.
