Driver, who has joined the teaching staff at Le Rocquier School, currently plays in the Minor Counties for Cornwall.
But he will be eligible for the Island side and has already signed up with cricket development officer Chris Minty to help with Jersey Academy coaching in the New Year.
All-rounder Driver also plans to play for Romerils in Division I of the NatWest Weekend League.
‘If I’m picked for the Island team obviously I’d love to play,’ said Driver today.
‘But that would have to depend on my form and how I get on here.
‘I want to play for Romerils because it’s got links with Le Rocquier and I know Mark Saralis who plays for them.
‘But I also want to carry on playing for Cornwall.’ Just a couple of years ago Driver (25) was a first team player for Lancashire when England’s newest hero, Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, was vice-captain.
He also played alongside other famous names such as former England captain Mike Atherton, Neil Fairbrother, Muttiah Muralitharan – and Graeme Hick, during his time at Worcestershire.
After his contract with Lancashire finished, Driver went to New Zealand for six months, as an overseas professional and director of coaching at a club in Auckland.
Last season he played for the Minor Counties representative side against the MCC and won the Minor Counties batting trophy for producing the best statistics – in five matches he played eight innings and scored 545 runs at an average of 90.83.
His highest score was 183 and he clocked two centuries and two 50s.
And Driver has already scored a century in Jersey – but against the Channel Islands side when he visited with the Cornwall U16 team in the annual summer festival.
