Chris Grimes, Gean ‘Jo-Jo’ O’Neil, Karina Bisson and Suzie Dingle survived a tense sudden death extra end to beat a distinguished Scottish quartet skipped by former world indoor singles champion, Joyce Lindores in the semi finals.
‘Brilliant, fantastic, wonderful,’ said Bisson last night, after Jersey had scored a vital single to break a 14-14 deadlock and win by the narrowest of margins, 15-14.
‘It’s hard to believe we are still unbeaten, but you can be sure we’ll be doing our best against England in Friday morning’s final,’ Karina added, while Liz Cole, Jersey’s proud team manager, smiled broadly as she nursed the squad’s mascot, Daisy-Belle, a stuffed animal with a distinct bovine appearance.
‘That was a hard game,’ Cole said.
‘It’s impossible to pick out the star player, because all four girls played so well – and, the important thing was that they played as a team.’ Full report in today’s JEP.
