The two sides meet for the first time in a head-to-head tomorrow and CI manager Keith Dennis is fully aware that Surrey will prove stern opposition for his Credit Suisse-sponsored Channel Islands team at Grainville.
Dennis said: ‘Surrey are an unknown quantity for us but I fully expect them to be a strong side as the Surrey League is a very good standard.
We all have to be focused for the match and, to win, I believe we will have to play well in every department.
‘We’ve proved that we can do well with the success we’ve had in our group matches so far.
Hopefully we’ll be able to match some of those performances with another good showing tomorrow.
‘This season the bowlers have applied themselves really well and rarely give anything away.
The fielding has been good, too, and batting-wise, when we’ve had to get ourselves out of trouble, which we have had to do on a couple of occasions, we’ve achieved that as well.
‘If our top four or five batsman can all get it together on the day then we will give ourselves a good chance of winning.’ The 45-overs-a-side match at Grainville starts at 12.30 pm.
Channel Islands: Keith Dennis (captain), Paul Robson, Mike Webber, Steve Birkett, John Taylor, Greg Sykes, Tom Gales, Barry Middleton, Ralph Anthony, John Tall and Mike Kinder.
