Jersey have six shooters in the final 100 of the Donaldson Memorial, which is shot over 900 and 1,000 yards.
This is the most the Island have managed to get into the top 100 for many years, with the final leg to be shot tomorrow evening.
Chris Cotillard 17th 147.16; Richard Benest 37th 146.13; Bruce Horwood 61st, 144.19; Alex Langley 71st 144.19; Cliff Mallett 78th 144.15; Sue Le Cheminant 98th 144.11.
Andrew Le Cheminant dropped ten shots yesterday in the Grand Aggregate while Richard Benest dropped 13.
Benest had the misfortune to fire at the wrong target costing him five points.
Bruce Horwood said: ‘The quality of ammunition is being questioned, I think there was a better batch available today over the short ranges of 300 and 500 yards.
‘It’s not been particularly good and I think it’s down to the war in Iraq.
The ammunition has been produced for the military and not produced for competition.
‘I don’t think the manufacturers have had enough time to test it in time for these championships.’
