Ann Street Brewery now intend to hold a public meeting next month on plans to extend the opening hours of the venue, after opposition led by St Helier Deputies Terry Le Main and Jennifer Bridge.

And the brewery also want to draw up a charter to set boundaries for their relationships with residential neighbours.

Deputy Bridge said she was delighted at Ann Street’s decision to defer the proposal.

She said: ‘I appreciate the genuine effort by the brewery to improve relations with its neighbours in Craig Street, New Street and Duhamel Place.

Nevertheless I remain opposed to the principle of a seventh category licence for this establishment, which is situated in a predominantly residential neighbourhood.

‘While some will argue that this is not a nightclub licence the fact is that the only difference between this and a nightclub licence is that this licence ends at 1 am as opposed to 2 am.’ Ann Street plan to hold a public meeting with residents on Wednesday 9 June, and they will bring their plans to a Parish Assembly in September.
