PROPOSALS to effectively scrap housing qualifications will turn out to be a ‘landlord’s charter’, says Housing president Deputy Terry Le Main.He says that there will be huge implications for the rent rebate scheme at a time when the aim of the committee is to reduce rental subsidies.
The Housing president is intent on holding a series of public meetings on the draft proposals to hear people’s views.Policy and Resources will lodge au Greffe tomorrow proposals that, if adopted, would allow people to rent property with permission as soon as they have arrived in the Island.
In addition there are proposals to reduce the time restrictions on buying property, possibly to ten years.
