In an announcement in last night’s JEP the Environment and Public Services Committee produced a list of 12 proposed reductions due to be made to the Connex bus service in January, alongside two enhancements. This was considered disappointing by Deputy Roy Le Hérissier, who said that it was a pity that they had not presented some new ideas alongside the ‘doom and gloom’ picture.Bus Users Forum chairman Ian Everson said that the service would see most users affected in some way.He said that some of the Island’s attractions were losing their service because of the success of Easylink, but said that he was not able to comment on whether he thought the changes were for the better until a draft timetable had been drawn up.Connex managing director Phillipe Julhes said that he had given Environment and Public Services the relevant information and figures and a proposition had been made from there.
He said: ‘Operating on behalf of Environment and Public Services I have got to respect their constraints and produce a timetable based within those constraints.’
