Tony Perkins is to ask Deputy Lyndon Farnham if Islanders could be given the right to a day off on Battle day.
He said the event was an important part of the Island’s history and that Islanders had the right to be able to watch it without having to take a day off work.Mr Perkins said: ‘The Battle of Flowers has just celebrated its centenary and is so much a part of Island life that it managed to come back twice after world wars.He intends to approach Deputy Farnham, the Economic Development Committee member with responsibility for tourism, to put forward his suggestion.Deputy Farnham said that although the request had not yet been put to him, he would be open-minded in his consideration of it.
