“PEOPLE keep moaning, ‘I got into crypto too late’. Poppycock!” With only about 4% of the world holding Bitcoin, grabbing a slice today puts you ahead of 96% of the planet.

But let’s talk about the ones who got in at the “basement level”. The Winklevoss twins, made famous by “The Social Network” (the film version of the story of Facebook), were early adopters of Bitcoin and later founded Gemini, a crypto exchange and custodian.

The most recent blockbuster move – 80,000 BTC, worth a jaw-dropping $8.6 billion at today’s price of $107,750 per coin – shifted on 4 July, from wallets untouched since 2011. Purchased for just $0.01 each (that’s $800 total back then), these coins weren’t sold; they were moved to safer addresses, underscoring the belief that these whales are betting Bitcoin’s nowhere near its peak.

Finance “bigwig” BlackRock, with nearly 693,000 BTC in its iShares Bitcoin Trust, reckons it could rocket to $600,000 or even $700,000 per coin. That kind of confidence from the biggest players screams opportunity.

Why hold Bitcoin?

It’s inflation proof

Inflation erodes fiat currency’s value year after year, meaning your savings have less buying power. Bitcoin, with its capped supply of 21 million coins, sidesteps this. It’s like digital gold.

High risk, high reward

Bitcoin’s price swings are wild, no doubt. But the trend is clear: despite dips, Bitcoin’s track record shows massive returns. Even with volatility, holders have seen gains that “most markets can’t touch”.

The future is Bitcoin

Traditionalists might call Bitcoin risky or speculative, but they’re missing the point. It’s a disruptive force shaking up the monetary system. It won’t settle overnight, but the trajectory is clear. Even Elon Musk chimed in on X, saying “fiat is hopeless, so yes”, when asked if the new America Party would back Bitcoin. That’s a nod from one of the world’s biggest visionaries.
