BERGERAC lead actor Damien Molony is expected to be among those attending the inaugural Jersey Screen Summit next Monday.

The event, recently announced by Screen Jersey, is set to take place at the Freedom Centre from 1pm to 5pm on 9 November.

Organisers have outlined hopes to kickstart a “co-ordinated effort” to identify “practical steps towards making Jersey a competitive destination for film and television production”.

The JEP understands that Mr Molony, who portrays the famous detective in the UKTV-commissioned reincarnation of Bergerac, will be attending the Summit.

A third season of the new show, which offers a modern take on the hit 80s drama of the same name created by Robert Banks Stewart, is due to air sometime in 2027.

Executive producer Brian Constantine said that Bergerac is helping to raise Jersey’s profile internationally, “showcasing the Island to audiences and potential visitors across the globe”.

Commenting on the upcoming Screen Jersey event, Mr Constantine said he welcomed the discussions “and the opportunity to help shape the future of Jersey’s screen industry”.

The JEP also understands that Economic Development Minister Gerald Voisin will be among those in attendance.
