Nominated by: Skye Clifford
AN Islander, who works long hours as a “care navigator”, has been nominated for Grandparent of the Year for the “enormous” help she gives both practically and financially to her young grandson.
Helen Brunnock has been nominated by her daughter-in-law Skye Clifford, who said: “She is an incredible Nanna and such an important part of our son’s life.”
Since her grandson was eight months old, Ms Brunnock has looked after him every week, often “straight after finishing a night shift, sometimes for days on end, despite being exhausted herself”.
When Miss Clifford’s mother became ill this year, she said Ms Brunnock’s support and childcare were “invaluable during such a challenging time”.
She added: “Helen has also helped us financially, practically and emotionally, but most importantly she gives our son so much love, attention and happiness.
“We honestly couldn’t ask for a better Nanna and our son is incredibly lucky to have her.”
