The Jersey Young Farmers’ Club won Class I (for youth organisations) and a prize of £50 for their float, Freedom. A queen (Yvonne Rousseaux) and two princesses (Lesley de la Haye and Margaret Renouf) with Britannia (Monica Labey) at their back sit atop a float decorated with carnations, ferns and white gladioli. The flagbearers were Bernard Gallichan, Leslie Le Ruez, Neville Renouf, John Le Brun and Cyril Le Brun
E C Noel, of Southways, St Brelade, entered this float Festival Queen, with little Ethel Noel in the starring role on a throne decorated with multi-coloured flowers
Springfield Theatre’s float
Souvenir de la Semaine Française, entered by Mrs Syvret of 4 Marina Avenue, came third in Class B. The children, who were dressed in typical Breton costume, were Myrtle Toop, Jacqueline Syvret, Rosemary Le Moine and Theresa Searle. The runners were Mrs Syvret, Mrs Howes and Mr Toop
