MORE than 1,000 Year 8 students from 12 secondary schools have taken part in community education days.
The Building a Safer Community programme teaches young people how to stay safe and make good decisions.
During the education days, students joined activities and workshops about topics including fire safety, drugs, child exploitation, making safe choices and where to get help if they need it.
Students also met people from Jersey’s emergency and community services and got a close look at equipment such as fire engines.
The feedback was very positive. Most students said they enjoyed the day, with 91% rating it as good or excellent.
Many also said they better understood the dangers of drugs, the impact of arson, what child exploitation is and where to go if they ever need support.
