Shellfish catch in Jersey and Guernsey is being hampered by increasing numbers of octopuses in local waters

THE minimum size of a lobster that can be caught will increase by 1 mm from an 89 mm upper shell length to 90 mm, if the States agree.

The proposal, put forward by Environment Minister Mary Le Hegarat, follows the recommendations of a ‘Lobster Working Group’ which was set up five years ago to improve stock management.
