PRISON staff will be taking part in a 24-hour challenge to raise money for a local charity.
As part of this year’s Prisons Week, staff from the States Prison Service will be completing the “Around the clock, Around the Fence” challenge consisting of constant movement around La Moye’s external fences for a period of 24 hours.
The initiative, which starts at 5.45am tomorrow morning, symbolises that the service runs 24/7.
Brighter Futures supports families in Jersey to live safely and healthily in times of need.
As well as the fundraiser, families of staff and officers will be invited to tour the prison and gain a better understanding of where their loved ones spend their working hours.
As part of Prisons Week, yesterday, four prisoners represented La Moye in an online, international chess tournament against 57 other countries. There will also be produce from from the Horticulture Compound and the Woodwork Workshops on show.
The 24 hour Around the Clock, Around the Fence challenge will also see a last mile completed in memory of Ian Clarke and Scott Barnes who died while working for the service.
