FIREFIGHTERS were called out on Monday evening to tackle a car fire.
Although the blaze was quickly extinguished, the car was left badly damaged.
In a Facebook post, Jersey Fire and Rescue said: ‘Early this evening Green Watch were mobilised to a vehicle fire.
‘The crews were met with a car on fire with heavy smoke issuing from the vehicle and quickly got to work with a high pressure hose reel and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.
‘Watch Commander Ryan would like to commend the actions of the owner by getting out, staying out and calling 999
‘The same actions we encourage for any incident of fire.’
In a reply to the post, Islander Nicky Van der Vliet said: ‘The car belonged to me and I am extremely grateful to the fire team and the couple who stayed with me until my husband turned up.’
