Campaigners unite to preserve People’s Park

The group, called Save People’s Park, has called a public meeting at the Town Hall from 7.30 pm on Thursday 11 February to give Islanders the chance to voice their views about building on the land.

Although the Council of Ministers has yet to formally announce its preferred location for the new hospital, the People’s Park was revealed as a ‘strong contender’ by Health Minister Andrew Green.

Christian May, the chairman of Save People’s Park, said that members of the public would then be able to give their views on the issue. He added that Senator Green was due to be asked to attend the meeting to explain why the park is a viable option.

Save People’s Park, which has also launched a website called savepeoplespark.com, is made up of every St Helier Deputy except Education Minister Rod Bryans, as well as the West of Town Community Association, the St Helier Waterfront Action Group, environmental campaigners Save our Shoreline Jersey, political party Reform Jersey and Mr Crowcroft.
