A spokesperson for the Radisson Blu Hotel in Mali’s capital, Bamako, said that two armed men had taken charge of 140 guests and 30 staff. Latest reports suggested that three people had been killed and that 80 hostages had been released.
Reuters reported that a witness had heard the gunmen shout ‘God is great’ as they fired their guns and entered the hotel.
