CHRISTMAS markets will return to the Royal Square next month.

The Genuine Jersey Simply Christmas Markets, which are sponsored by the government, Signtech CI and Jersey Mutual, open from Thursday 21 November and will be on for three weekends during the festive season.

This year the markets feature over 60 local artisans and producers.

Genuine Jersey chief executive John Garton called the markets a “highlight of the year” for the organisation whose members had spent months preparing.

He added: “One of the most rewarding aspects of the markets is the opportunity to connect directly with the creators behind the products across the three four-day weekends. As you wander through the stalls, you can chat with the local artisans who have spent countless hours perfecting their craft. Many of our members have been working for months – some even since last Christmas –to create beautiful products for this event.

“These markets wouldn’t be possible without the support of our sponsors, Signtech CI, the Government of Jersey and this year we’re delighted to welcome Jersey Mutual into the fold. Their collective backing allows us to continue to offer this fantastic platform for our members and also keep the costs to them as low as possible.”

Signtech CI managing director Tim De Gruchy, whose company has supported the event since 2013, called it a “great honour” to sponsor the markets again this year.

Jersey Mutual general manager Shaun Kavanagh said they were “very pleased” to support the “wonderful event that brings the Island together at such a special time of year”.

There will be food and drink stalls at the markets, as well as live entertainment from local musicians.
