The story of Donna and her daughter Debbie Le Bailly is evidence of just how hard the downturn is now hitting households, with unemployment at record levels and no sign of economic recovery.
Mrs Le Bailly received a court summons on Tuesday telling her that she must be in the Royal Court tomorrow because her mortgage lender wants to repossess their home in Quennevais Park, St Brelade.
They are now £2,500 in arrears and without jobs have no way of paying the £411 monthly payments.
Mrs Le Bailly (52) said that they had done various jobs in the past, but despite their best efforts, could not find work now.
