At Lee Valley, Shadine Duquemin, pictured, excelled to win the shot putt gold in the under-20 section following a huge personal best throw of 12 metres and 84 centimetres.

Duquemin’s success came on the back of gold and bronze medals the previous weekend for fellow Jersey athletes Robbie Stenhouse and Stan Livingstone, in the men’s U20 200 metres and U17 400 metres respectively.

Duquemin said: I’m pleased with the result, it was a great pb and it reflects what shape I’m in at the moment and shows that my winter training is paying off.

‘It’s a good start to the season and I know there is a lot more to come so I’m really looking forward to the year ahead.’
