Unite official Nick Corbel says that his members will fight to defend their pay and that he expects them to ‘get hit big-time’ after the election, accusing the States of holding back ‘bad news’ until after Islanders go to the polls in less than a fortnight.
Meetings for Unite members are scheduled for next week, and Mr Corbel says that the Island’s industrial relations could be heading for disaster.
He said: ‘We have made it clear to the employer that we will defend our current terms and conditions and working practices to the hilt. We will not allow them to be eroded or taken away from us.’
