The Island’s footballers beat their Guernsey counterparts 5-2 at Springfield to lift the Inter-Insular Trophy for the fourth year in succession on Saturday afternoon, followed an hour or so later by Jersey RFC Youth, recently crowned Hampshire RFU champions, beating a game Guernsey U18 side 28-3 to hoist the new Broadlands Trophy at St Peter.
Hundreds turned out at both venues, with the Jersey Academy’s Siam Festival a huge success story, with Guernsey youngsters playing a full part, though they returned with only one of the 11 age-group trophies.
