Both teams turned in a fireworks display of open, running rugby in which Jersey seemed to have the game won by a country mile before the visitors surged back with some heart in search of their own four-try bonus point.
But Jersey were to deny last week’s conquer’s of league leaders Ealing even that, and fittingly finished try of their own as replacement Kingsley Lang touched down for Jersey’s sixth try in the 79th minute.
Jersey had roared into a 41-7 lead, but relaxed and gave away six penalties in as many minutes to give Barking the sniff of a consolation point, with two catch and drive tries of their own and forcing Jersey into desperate defence on their own try line. Great stuff.
