The JEP reported in October how Southampton Hospital had issued Barry Turner with a bill for treatment he had there in September, after suffering a heart attack in the UK.
The end of the reciprocal health agreement with the UK meant that Mr Turner had to pay for his own treatment.
Officials from Southampton Hospital had written to the family saying that they couldn’t waive the bill, despite Senator Alan Breckon taking up the case and writing to Health Minister Anne Pryke to try and get the amount written off.
