MEMBERS of the Island’s media organisations came together on Friday night in a unique event to help one of the Island’s best-known journalists in his battle to recover from the effects of a stroke.
Over 500 friends, family members and colleagues united in a fun-filled demonstration of support for former JEP assistant editor Anthony Lewis, who has been forced to retire through ill-health following the stroke last November.
Highlights of the event, entitled Media Release, included cabaret performances by the Transmedia Divas, a trio of drag queens clearly identifiable as Channel 103FM presenter Peter Mac, Gallery magazine editor Ben Davies and veteran JEP reporter Harry McRandle; and a highly polished ragtime dance routine to the tune All That Jazz from the musical Chicago by members of the JEP editorial team. Choreographer Carly Lockhart, Anna Plunkett-Cole, Jo Hutchison, Lauren Gouyette, Ramsay Cudlipp, Anthony Dearie, Andy Sibcy and Julien Morel strutted their stuff to stunned applause.
Mr Lewis thoroughly enjoyed the night and he and his partner, Suzi Austin, were on the dance floor surrounded by friends late into the evening enjoying the music of the live band Inside Job.
