Experienced parachutist Tim Preston, a former De La Salle pupil, was jumping on the Sunshine Coast, near Brisbane in Australia. His chute had opened as normal, but as he approached the ground he drifted into a thermal. When he turned sharply to escape, his canopy closed up and he plummeted 150 feet. Mr Preston has made a miraculous recovery since the accident on 7 January. He has returned to Jersey, is walking again and hopes to return to work as a sound engineer at Delta Conference Systems before the end of the month.
