Organiser Mike Higgins says the future of the display is at risk unless more money is forthcoming. He said the organisation that runs the display is over £30,000 short of what it requires to meet the overall costs of staging the popular event on 13 September. He said the organisation has no financial reserves and warned that if the shortfall was not made up, then there would be no display next year. ‘There are many hotels and restaurants with views over St Aubin’s Bay who are holding receptions, lunches and so on. ‘The vast majority have not made a contribution and it is probably down to a lack of awareness as to how the display is funded. I am sure the organisers of these functions do not realise that we seriously need to bridge a funding gap,’ he said.
