Goals from Ashley Dodd and John Rutter early in the second half put the visitors in the driving seat but once Lucas Parker pulled a goal back, 20 minutes from the end, it was the home team who pressed hard but without further reward.
As a result Trinity moved to within three points of leaders Jersey Scottish from the same number of games played.
Trinity defender Scott Jones said: ‘It was a tough match, St Ouen made it hard for us and it was difficult at times because the pitch was soft.
‘We created quite a few chances in the first half but failed to take them.
Dave Le Roux put in two fine deliveries for Ashley and John’s goals – Ashley had a tap in on a far post while John finished well from seven yards.
‘The Beatson brothers played well for us, John’s positioning and handling of the ball as goalkeeper was very good while Barry tackled and distributed the ball well playing in the centre of midfield.
‘The division is very tight this season and clubs will take points off each other.
‘We’ve bounced back from our heavy defeat by St Paul’s and we’ll now try a put a good run of results together.’ St Ouen joint-manager Peter Flambard said: ‘We switched off for five minutes after half time and it cost us the game.
It was a great shame because our performance was much better than our defeat by Rozel Rovers recently.
‘The game was well-balanced and I thought we deserved a point.
We pressed hard after getting a goal back but although we had good possession we didn’t really create a clear-cut chance to work their goalkeeper.’ St Ouen: Fraser McInnes; Craig Farley, Matthew Smith, Anthony Norman, Rob Sanford, Michael Norman; Andy Modral, Rob Moore, Lucas Parker; Joe Murphy, Danny Craven.
