Hundreds queued to taste the many soups on offer, raising £6,259 for the Shelter Trust for the Homeless.

Organiser Michelle Cuthbert said that the kitchen had been a huge success, despite the regular showers.

‘It was absolutely manic from the moment we opened,’ she said.

‘I think this year’s takeaway service was particularly popular because people could take their soups back to the office and avoid the rain.

We raised £1,000 more than last year, which was far more than expected, and I would like to thank all the suppliers, sponsors and volunteers for their effort.’
