Eileen Vowden and Mavis Le Marquand and Mike Videgrain and Melvyn Birch both lost their final group matches, which ended their hopes of contesting the gold in a play-off.
Vowden and Le Marquand put up a tremendous struggle against Guernsey, but the experienced and classy Sarnians eventually got through 12-8, although it was much closer than that for much of the match.
Will Waymouth’s hopes of a medal in the singles are hanging by a thread despite an excellent performance yesterday.
Having drawn his first game, he narrowly lost 21-18 to Guernsey’s star bowler Paul Ingrouille.
Waymouth must now hope that Ingrouille beats Duncan McLean of the Western Isles, with whom Waymouth drew 19-19, and then overcome Steve Rossington of Ynys Mon.
That would bring the bronze medal position down to shot difference, with Waymouth perhaps the favourite to go through in that scenario.
Guernsey’s world-class star Alison Merrien ended Jersey’s Jean Holmes’ hopes of a singles medal with a 21-5 victory in their group match.
Merrien and Shetland’s Anne Robertson will now meet for a place in the final.
Said manager Alan Cadoret: ‘I’m really proud of how the team have performed throughout the week.
Not only that, they have enjoyed it and have helped to create a great atmosphere in the centre.
They are a credit to Jersey bowls.’
