The price of an average house is now £345,000.
The percentage increase is the biggest in more than three years and indicates confidence in the Island economy, according to Policy and Resources Committee president Senator Frank Walker.
The figures, revealed today in the latest house price survey, also show that one-bedroom flats to three-bedroom houses all rose in the 12 months to the end of September.
The average price of a three-bedroom home was £366,000 as compared to £346,000 three months ago.
The survey results were presented as it was announced that two household name English building societies will soon be offering 100% mortgages in Jersey – products that have been available for years in the UK.
It will mean that young people desperate to buy property will not have to find large deposits to make their dream of home ownership come true from next year.
But there have been warnings that house prices could be forced up as a result, preventing others from getting a foot on the ladder.
