Old Road and New Road, in the old heart of the village between Gouray Village Road and the Welcome Slip, have been maintained by both parishes for as long as anyone can remember.
However, an investigation of Grouville parish records revealed that the legal ownership was not known.
The Constable of Grouville, Dan Murphy , said following complaints about access by the emergency services and refuse collectors because of parking in the narrow lanes, the parishes decided to act.
‘We are both proposing to adopt these roads which are historic little streets which should be looked after better,’ he said.
