A TECHNOLOGY fund aimed at supporting the Island’s ‘future economy’ has been approved by States Members.
The £20 million ‘technology accelerator fund’ utilises the windfall the government received from the sale of JT’s Internet of Things division.
A proposal lodged by the Council of Ministers was backed by 28 Members on Friday, with 12 voting against. It called on the States ‘to support the Island’s future economy, make faster progress on environmental and social goals, and strengthen the technology eco-system in Jersey’ by establishing the fund.
Chief Minister John Le Fondré said Jersey was increasingly making a name for itself with its ‘cutting edge technology sector’.
