Rugby: Depleted Reds forced to make-do again

Just 18 players were fit for training yesterday in preparation for the Friday night battle with unbeaten Yorkshire Carnegie, meaning the forwards coach will again start at blindside flanker after being forced back into action against Cardiff Blues Select last week.

Fly-half Sam Katz begins at fullback again as Jersey look to end a run of eight games without a win against Carnegie – a late change to the squad after Rich Lane was ruled out following scans. Ross Adair, originally pencilled in at fullback, moves to the right wing, with George Watkins called up to the bench.

Biljon had hoped to bring in new faces this week to alleviate the woes, but negotiations proved unsuccessful.

Forwards: Marc Thomas, Jack Macfarlane, Simon Kerrod, Dave McKern, James Voss, Alex Rae, James Freeman, Nick Haining.

Backs: Joel Dudley, Brendan Cope; Ross Adair, George Eastwell, Regan King, Jordan Davies, Sam Katz .

Replacements: Jake Woolmore, Sean McCarthy, Jake Armstrong, Max Argyle, Uili Kolo’ofa’i, Kieran Hardy, George Eastwell.
