Islander ‘devastated’ by theft of precious jewellery

Five pieces – including unique items – were taken from a safe at the home of 73-year-old Jean Holmes and her husband Richard at some point between Christmas and last Friday11th.

A sixth item – a white gold ring – was taken from a dressing table.

Mrs Holmes said a number of people have had access to her property during the eight-month period, and the thief must have first spent time trying to find the safe’s key.

She also believes that the culprit may have deliberately taken only a small number of items in an attempt to avoid detection – as more jewellery was left untouched in the safe

Anyone with information is being asked to phone the States police on 612612 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
