Island teenager picked for GB show jumping team

Former Beaulieu and Les Landes pupil Taisie De Gruchy (19) has been chosen as part of a six-strong team that will compete in an under-21 event at the Nations Cup, which is widely regarded as the most prestigious show jumping event for national teams in the world.

The Islander, who is currently living and training full-time in Southampton, said representing Great Britain has been her goal. And she added that she was still in a state of shock at being called up.

‘I am absolutely delighted. I went to a selection day in Chepstow, Wales, last weekend and we did not think anything of it. For a Jersey girl to come across to the UK and compete against all the talent here is so hard but my parents and family have been so supportive in giving me this opportunity,’ she said.
