Ex-head of Diabetes Centre struck off

Andrea Kim Ellis, who got the job in 2013, has been banned from practice by the Nursing and Midwifery Council after it found she made false claims about having a Master’s degree in diabetes from the University of Warwick as well as numerous other qualifications.

The panel heard that during her interview in August 2013 ‘panellists at the interview nor Health’s HR department’ verified Ms Ellis’ qualifications before she was awarded the job. The defendant, who resigned from her role with the Health Department in February 2016, told her interviewers that her certificates and portfolio were in her suitcase, which had been lost at the Airport.

The Health Department was unavailable for comment.
