The parade, which is now in its third year, is due to take place on Saturday 9 September. With the tagline ‘#IDo’, it is a celebration of the LGBTQ community. Organisers want people to wear wedding hats for the event, which they say will be like the ‘biggest wedding party ever’.
In September 2015 the States overwhelmingly voted to allow same-sex couples to marry and, although no date has been given, laws permitting the ceremonies are expected to be approved by the States before the end of this year.
