Top Island chef cooks his way into the final

On Monday Michael Cruickshank (25), who works at Bohemia, is due to compete against five others in the Roux Scholarship final to win the opportunity to work alongside some of the best chefs in the world.

Winners of the competition become members of the renowned ‘scholars club’ and are rewarded with a special three-month ‘stage’ visit to work in a three-Michelin-star restaurant of their choice anywhere in the world.

Many former winners of the prize have gone on to run their own restaurant or work in the world’s best eateries.

The six finalists are due to be given a recipe and ingredients for a main dish 30 minutes before the start of competition, during which they will prepare and

present it.

The contest, which is due to be held at Westminster Kingsway College, is scheduled to be judged by celebrity chefs Michel Roux Jnr, James Martin and Brian Turner.
