The 15-year-old suffered a fractured jaw during the incident on the Waterfront on Sunday night. Officers say they believe the attacker was in his late 30s.
Today the boy’s mother, who has asked not to be named, has described how the suspect allegedly turned on her son after the teenager tried to defend his friend.
‘It is frightening. You just don’t expect this sort of thing to happen in Jersey,’ she said.
The suspect is described as a white man, about 5 ft 8 in tall, of medium or stocky build with curly, ginger hair.
