Chief Minister is accused of playing to the cameras

Deputy Sam Mézec said he thought Senator Ian Gorst had been speaking in a ‘different tone’ since the cameras were introduced in September and accused him of having media training. The Chief Minister has dismissed the claims.

The Reform Jersey chairman made the claims while speaking to an Isle of Man news website about the impact cameras have had on the Chamber. The island is considering following Jersey’s lead and introducing live streaming of its government’s debates.

Senator Gorst said he agreed with Deputy Mézec that cameras were improving democratic procedure in Jersey but rejected the accusation that he was grandstanding.
