Russian runner stripped of Jersey Marathon title

Aleksey Troshkin won the event, which was held on 2 October, for the third consecutive year, finishing in a time of 2 hr 18 min 28 sec. However, it emerged this week that his name is on a list compiled by the International Association of Athletics Federation of athletes banned from international competition – which includes the Jersey Marathon.

Following an investigation by the IAAF, the Jersey Marathon announced yesterday that the 30-year-old athlete’s result had been ‘annulled due to his ineligibility to compete under the rules applicable to the event’.

Chris Zablocki, who was second in the race, has now been awarded first place, Dan Tanui has been placed second and Eric Koech is third, Ian Livesey fourth and Samuel Ongaki fifth.

The £2,500 first prize will be awarded to Mr Zablocki following the revised results.
