Turnover of social workers raises concern

It has also emerged that the department, which is responsible for safeguarding children and their families, is having to bring in UK social workers on temporary contracts to cope with demand.

In a recently published judgment following a care proceedings case, the Royal Court said it was concerned that the vulnerable family in question, which includes two young children, had had five different social workers in a year.

It also said that they were not the only family in this situation.

Deputy Jackie Hilton, who sits on the Health and Social Security Scrutiny Panel, said that the situation was ‘alarming’.
